Quick Ways to Lose Weight by Incorporating Exercise into Your Daily Activities
Most of us in today’s hectic world have used the excuse of too little time when asked about our lack of daily exercise. However, this excuse tends to falter when you are given a few scenarios where you can incorporate the daily exercise you need, in order to live a healthier life, into your everyday activities. These are also great quick ways to lose weight.
Some of the scenarios are as follows:
- Do your housework yourself, instead of paying somebody to do it for you.
The simple task of washing the dishes (by hand) is a great way to exercise the biceps and triceps of your upper arms.
Sweeping the floors or vacuuming your carpets is another easy and beneficial way of exercising. If you sweep or vacuum at a brisk pace for longer than 15 minutes every day it can be seen as a full body workout, all in the comfort of your own home! This is a great quick way you can lose weight as well.
The secret to making a success of exercising whilst doing the needed work around your home is in doing it at a swift pace, and doing everything hands-on. Wash your dishes by hand, polish the floors by going down on all fours, clean the walls by yourself, all of these are practical and useful ways of exercising whilst doing the things that need to be done in any case.
- Walk or ride a bike to the corner store or any place you want to visit that is within walking distance, instead of taking the car.
If there are no safety concerns to take into consideration, it is always better to walk to your destination than take the car, especially if it is close by – another quick way to lose weight. Many times it takes longer to start your car, get it out of the drive way, find a good parking spot and walk the rest of the way to the store, than to just walk from home.
If you decide to take the walking option, remember to walk at a brisk pace instead of taking a leisurely stroll.
- Take the stairs instead of the lift or escalators. This is an old favorite tip that has been in existence since the design of lifts and escalators. These two forms of indoor transportation have made the lives of many corporate men and women, as well as shoppers, a lot easier. Unfortunately, it has also made us a lot lazier. Stair climbing is one of the best forms of exercise available. Also remember to always take the stairs both up and down, as this will exercise both the concentric and eccentric movements of your leg muscles.
- You can even exercise whilst watching your favorite TV programs. Get up during all the breaks and walk to the other rooms in your home, or just stretch your muscles a bit. Change the channels on the TV itself, instead of using the remote control, and if you have a stationary bike, paddle it a bit whilst watching TV or just during the breaks.
- If you have children or pets, spend time with them by doing things outdoors. Go for a walk in rocky terrain or in the summer take them for a swim at the local pool. Play backyard baseball, football, rugby, cricket, basketball, whatever… with them. There are thousands of outdoor things that you can do with your children or pets that will be both beneficial to your personal relationship with them as well as your health.
These are just five tips that can be followed to get some exercise in during your daily activities. There are numerous others, some things you may already be doing without noticing it. Consider your normal daily routine, think about the ways you can better utilize the way you spend your time to be beneficial to your health as well as your personal relationships. With so little time available, be sure to spend every second wisely!

Thanks for publishing about this. There’s a bunch of good tech information on the internet. You’ve got a lot of that info here on your site. I’m impressed – I try to keep a couple blogs pretty current, but it’s a struggle sometimes. You’ve done a great job with this one. How do you do it?
