Weight Loss Challenge Update: November 18, 2009

It’s been a rough couple of months in regards to my weight loss challenge progression – most of which I contribute to events happening in my life lately (thankfully no bad ones!) that have gotten me a bit off track fitness-wise. At this point, I’m pretty much back to where I originally started in terms of weight, although I know that my overall fitness levels are higher than when I first started this challenge earlier this year. It’s easy to get off track, but it’s all a matter of getting back my focus.

I’ve been eating healthy foods, but my portion control is still a work in progress. It’s been tough lately to eat healthy and on a schedule due to the recent birth of my son. Having a newborn, 12 month old, 8 year old, and 10 year old running around the house doesn’t really make it easy to stick to a healthy eating schedule – not to mention finding time to workout!

My situation is not unlike many other families out there – raising a family is hectic! So right now, it’s just a matter of getting back into a routine of eating healthy meals and exercising. The babies definitely keep me active throughout the day, but I prefer to also implement a weight lifting routine into my workout schedule. In my experience, lifting weights has proven to be the best type of exercise for fighting fat, building muscle and even improving your cardiovascular health. That’s just a personal preference though – jogging, walking, aerobics, swimming or other types of exercises provide plenty of positive health benefits as well. So feel free to experiment with different exercises until you find one that is fun, effective and provides results.
